About the role

The headspace Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing mental health assessment and therapeutic services to young people between the ages of 12-25 presenting with a broad range of issues relating to mental health, alcohol and substance use, identity, relationships, and trauma. The role is delivering services across the headspace centre, and a school-based setting.  

 

What are we looking for?

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing or other Allied Health) or equivalent qualification, with professional accreditation (e.g., AHPRA or similar), with minimum two years clinical experience and endorsement in mental health. 
  • Knowledge of mental health best practice in relation to prevention, assessment, early identification, treatment and rehabilitation and a proven capacity to deliver innovative, quality client services within professional and service timeframes. 
  • Awareness of Aboriginal culture within Australia’s history, knowledge of cultural sensitivities and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people in conjunction with a willingness to incorporate Aboriginal values into clinical practice. 
  • Ability to partner with young people accessing the services and their family or other significant supports, including them in goal setting, care planning and care co-ordination to identify and address health and wellbeing goals; 
  • Demonstrated ability in effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders, both orally and in writing and be willing to discuss and demonstrate own knowledge and skills with work colleagues. 
  • Current Driver’s Licence or the ability to obtain. 
  • Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
