About the role

The Payroll Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Payroll, ensuring that all payroll activities are processed accurately and on schedule - weekly, monthly and annually - in line with relevant legislation, the Congress Enterprise Agreement, and internal policies and procedures. 

At the first point of contact for the payroll team, you will provide regular check-ins and support. You will also work collaboratively with the Manager - Budgets and Financial Analysis to align processes and identify improvement initiatives. The position contributes to auditing processes, compliance reporting, reconciliations, and the investigation of payroll queries to ensure a consistently high standard of service is delivered to Congress and its employees. 

To be considered for this position, you will require:

• Diploma level qualification in Business or Finance, or working towards a qualification, or minimum experience in a similar role.
• Experience and understanding of payroll and accounts processes, including computerised payroll systems
• Ability to interpret industrial awards and knowledge of EEO, Occupational Health and Safety principles and superannuation. 
• Excellent liaison and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, in particular Word or Excel.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
• Ability to work with limited supervision, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
