Base Salary: $74,470 - $82,855(p.a.)

Total Effective Package: $93,499 - $102,934 (p.a.)*

Role Description

The Aboriginal Family Support Worker provides culturally safe case management advocacy, liaison, support and referral services to children aged 8 to 17years old, and their families, referred to Congress’ Back on Track (BoT) Program. The program has a focus on working with young people and their families on criminal diversion, restorative justice, reengagement with education and training, and alternatives to youth detention. The position works collaboratively with Social Workers and a youth focused Psychologist under a bi-cultural pair model.

 

To be considered for this position, you will require:

  • Identifies an Aboriginal person; recognised and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community
  • Qualification (Cert III or above) and experience in one or more of the following areas – family support, early childhood, education, or health or working towards qualification
  • Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community with an ability to engage with a diversity of Aboriginal families across different language groups.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in providing support to vulnerable families with young children and the understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children including neglect
  • Demonstrated capacity to use a computer for data entry and case note recording
  • Current NT Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain one
