About the role
The Elder Care Connector (ECC) has the primary responsibility of connecting with local Elders, older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families to raise awareness of their aged care entitlements. The ECC will work closely with the Elder Care Support Coordinator. Additionally they will assist with determining the level of local demand for aged care services, identify existing aged care services, service gaps in the area and continue advocacy work with clients as required. To be considered for this position, you will require: - To be of Aboriginal descent; identify and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community
- Demonstrated experience in a health or care sector role working with older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the aged care landscape
- Good record management, data collection and reporting capability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Aboriginal health, Aboriginal culture, and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
- Current NT drivers’ licence or the ability to obtain
