About the role The Acute Rheumatic Fever/ Rheumatic Heart Disease (ARF/RHD) program Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) supports the delivery of culturally responsive primary health care in the prevention and management of ARF/RHD. The position works in a small team providing outreach support, transport and liaison services between the community and health care providers. It also provides advice to the ARF/RHD program team around cultural and community issues important to Aboriginal people that may impact program delivery. Essential Requirements: - Australian Aboriginal person is of Aboriginal descent and is accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
- Current NT driver's licence.
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a small team, communicate effectively with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
- Understand confidentiality in a health setting as well as cultural sensitivity within the Aboriginal community.
- Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
