About the role

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing support to Aboriginal children and young people aged 0-18 and their families to optimise children’s development. The position works within a multidisciplinary team providing assessments and early intervention strategies for children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

To be considered for this position, you will require:

• Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
• Relevant post graduate experience in the delivery of evidence based interventions for children and their families presenting with complex issues.
• Proven skills in the assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of childhood disabilities including physical, cognitive and emotional development.
• The ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, managing a complex case load.
• Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in the issues impacting on Aboriginal children’s health and development, including knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people in Central Australia.
• Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items and ability to claim appropriately.
• Current NT Drivers Licence or ability to obtain one.
