About the role

The Aboriginal Family Support Worker (AFSW) provides culturally safe, hands-on support, advocacy, and care coordination for children and their families within the Child Health Outreach Program, working closely with the multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on sustained engagement, including outreach, transport, communication support, and collaboration with clinicians to improve access to care and health outcomes for children with complex needs.

You will need:

• To identify as an Aboriginal person and be recognised and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Central Australian Aboriginal community.
• Have excellent communication skills both written and oral including fluency in one or more local Aboriginal languages and the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment.
• To have proven experience in providing support to Aboriginal Children and families.
• To have the ability to work independently as well as a member in a multi-disciplinary team, communicate effectively with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, prioritise workload and effective time management.
• To have awareness of/sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and knowledge of current social determinants of health affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
• To have a current NT Drivers Licence
