About the role
The ARF/RHD Program Support/Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) contributes to the delivery of culturally responsive primary health care in the prevention of Acute Rheumatic Fever and/or Rheumatic Heart Disease (ARF/RHD) as well as to Congress clients living with ARF/RHD. The position works with multidisciplinary team and will implement community-based strategies for the early detection of skin and throat infections, ARF and RHD; adherence to treatment; improved health education and literacy; improved access to care; improved environmental hygiene. This position will provide a health promotion/liaison service between the community and Congress, provide advice to the ARF/RHD team around cultural and community issues important to Aboriginal people, and provide support to facilitate targeted community outreach services across regions, including town and remote locations.
