• Base Salary: $121,329 - $146,815 (p.a.)
• Total Effective Package: $148,522 - $177,326 (p.a.)*

About the role

The Child Psychologist is responsible for providing psychologist assessment and therapeutic services to Aboriginal children aged between the ages of 0-12 and their families to optimise the child's mental health. The position works within a multidisciplinary team to support children with suspected or emerging mental illness or behavioural challenges including early assessment, therapy, management and family support to limit the severity and progression of mental health challenges. 

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:

• Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Eligibility to apply for a Medicare Provider Number and bill for services rendered 
• Demonstrated experience in providing psychological support to children, particularly those aged 0-12 years, with a strong understanding of child development
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and its application in working with children and families
• High level of cultural competency, with the ability to work in a culturally safe and responsive manner.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with children, families, and community members.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Awareness of Aboriginal culture within Australia’s history, knowledge of cultural sensitivities and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people in conjunction with a willingness to incorporate Aboriginal values into clinical practice.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
