NL 5 - $138,060 to $141,609 p.a.

ALL 4 - $138,391 to $$145,041 p.a.

About the role

 

The Team Leader – Diabetes Education provides leadership and supervision to a team of Diabetes Educators and assists the Manager – Chronic Conditions Allied Health in the oversight and coordination of Diabetes Education services.

 

The Team Leader- Diabetes Education is responsible for creating a culture of culturally - responsive, safe and high-quality diabetes education services for clients across all Congress Clinics.

 

The Team Leader - Diabetes Education will support the Manager – Chronic Conditions Allied Health to partner effectively with clients and stakeholders in the development, promotion and planning of diabetes education and will work actively to ensure the service is working efficiently and effectively.

 

What are we looking for?

 

Someone to fit our team with the following requirements:

  • Registered with APHRA as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner and credentialed with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator, with experience in managing complex diabetes presentations
  • Demonstrated skills in effective community engagement, planning coordination and delivery of Diabetes Education services
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including staff management and supervision, OR willingness to manage a team and undertake appropriate training
  • Demonstrated well-developed organisation and communication skills including written and verbal communication and an ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment with Aboriginal clients and staff
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team maintaining professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
  • Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
  • (Desirable) Post - graduate training in health administration and workforce leadership and management, or other relevant domain;
  • (Desirable) A comprehensive understanding of the historical and comprehensive context of Aboriginal health, the social determinants of health, and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal community Control
  • (Desirable) Medium rigid drivers’ licence and ability to safely drive a large truck on unsealed roads;
  • (Desirable) Is of Aboriginal descent; identifies as an Aboriginal person; and is accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
