Full-time Continuous Contract 

37.5 hours per week 

 

$88,861 - $103,623 per annum

Total Effective Package*

$111,048 - $127,880 per annum

About the role

The Aboriginal Patient Navigator is responsible for providing equitable and culturally responsive support to Aboriginal people, families, and communities throughout their cancer journey. The role focuses on providing practical, day to day assistance to navigate the often-complex health and community support systems. This includes working closely with both medical and non-medical professionals to ensure wrap-around support for clients and their families.

 

Who are we looking for?

Someone to fit our amazing team with the following essential requirements:

  • Is of Aboriginal descent; identifies as an Aboriginal person; and is accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
  • Diploma in Community Health or relevant field or demonstrated experience working in community health, cancer services, or a related health or social service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in providing support to Aboriginal clients and their families in a health care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, and history and knowledge of factors influencing the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal families in Central Australia.
  • Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations when required.
  • Current NT Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one.

*Total Effective Package includes base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, and estimated tax saving from salary packaging options
