Role Description The SEWB Intake Officer is responsible for screening and responding to all new referrals to the service, conducting brief assessments to clarify support needs, make recommendations to the intake team, and arrange and coordinate initial engagement with the service, including booking appointments. To be considered for this position, you will require: - To be of Aboriginal descent; identify as an Aboriginal person; and be accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
- Cert IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Business Administration, or other relevant disciple, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience providing intake, referral, triage, care coordination, or client support services within a health, community services, social services or related environment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage Aboriginal individuals, families and communities in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including skills in engagement, information gathering, supportive conversations, and synthesising referral information for team discussion.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and work effectively in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, community members, health professionals and external service providers.
- Current driver’s licence.
