Base salary: $114,816 - $125,229 p.a.
Packaged salary*: $139,859 - $154.255 p.a.

About the role:

The Eye and Ear Health Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating culturally responsive, high-quality and safe optometry and audiology services for Aboriginal clients within the Alice Springs community across a variety of clinical and community settings. The Eye and Ear Health Coordinator fosters strong continuity of care across the care continuum to meet the vision and hearing health needs of clients, with a particular emphasis on community engagement, early intervention, case management support, and service planning.
The role is primarily based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs); remote travel is an inherent requirement of this position.

 

 

What we are looking for:

 

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with significant clinical experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of eye and ear health and management of conditions common in the Central Australian context
  • Coordination skills, including ability to meet tight timelines, negotiate effectively and problem solve;
  • Flexible approach to service delivery that is responsive to the needs of the community
  • An understanding of the historical and contemporary context of Aboriginal health, the social determinants of health, and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control
  • Demonstrated well developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment with Aboriginal clients and staff
  • Current NT Driver Licence or the ability to obtain.
  • Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations
